The Bell Tower Theater is proud to offer events that are great for the whole family.  


For kids who are interested in learning how to create theater, we also offer two outstanding youth education programs: Kids Take the Stage Youth Theater Classes and our Free Summer Musical Program.

Our 7th-Annual High School Musical

June 6 to 16, 2019

Set in the East Village of New York City, Rent School Edition is about falling in love, finding your voice and living for today. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, itfollows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. This show is recommended for ages 14 and up.

Thursdays, June 6 and 13 at 7:30 pm

Friday, June 7 and 14 at 7:30 pm

Saturdays, June 8 and 15 at 7:30 pm

Sundays, June 9 and 16 at 2 pm

Please note: This version of Rent has been edited (by the authors not by the Bell Tower Theater) to be performed by High School students.

The key differences are:

  1. The song “Contact” has been removed
  2. The songs “Out Tonight” and “La Vie Boheme” have been edited for content
  3. Profanity has been removed from the script

Our 14th-Annual Kids-for-Kids Musical

July 11 to 21, 2019

Our 14th-annual kids-for-kids musical is a musical adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s wild tale about the thrill-seeking, lovable menace Mr. Toad. This brand new West End musical has a book by Oscar-winning screenwriter and Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes and music and lyrics by the Olivier Award-winning composers and lyricists of Honk! George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.


This riotous comedy follows the impulsive Mr. Toad whose insatiable need for speed lands him in serious trouble. With his beloved home threatened by the notorious Chief Weasel and his sinister gang, Toad must attempt a daring escape leading to a series of misadventures and a heroic battle to recapture Toad Hall. The cast for this show is kids ages 7 to 16 from throughout the Dubuque Area.
